Terms of Service

Effective date: September 1, 2026

These terms govern your use of Oslo Registry — the website at osloregistry.com and the application at app.osloregistry.com (together, “Oslo”, “the Oslo Registry”, “Oslo Registry”, “the service”, “we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

Oslo Registry is operated by R3 Design Works, LLC. Contact: [email protected].

1. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 16 years of age to create an account. You agree to provide accurate registration information, keep your password secure, and accept responsibility for activity that happens under your account. Notify us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised. You may not impersonate another person or register an account for someone else without their permission.

2. Oslo Registry is a community registry

This is the most important thing to understand about the service. Vehicle records on Oslo Registry — including their identifying details, sale history, specifications, and related data — are community records, not personal property:

  • Any registered user may add a vehicle to the registry, including vehicles they do not own, and may edit or add to existing vehicle records.
  • Adding a vehicle does not give you ownership of its record or control over it. Other users may contribute to, correct, and extend records you created.
  • We may merge duplicate records, correct identifying details, lock a record against further identity edits, and reorganize registry data to maintain accuracy of the registry.
  • Contributions to community records are meant to be permanent. Deleting your account removes your identity from your contributions, but the factual vehicle history itself remains in the registry (see the Privacy Policy for details).

3. Your content and license to us

You keep ownership of the content you post — photos, posts, comments, records, and other material (“your content”). By posting it, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, adapt (for example resizing and reformatting images), publish, publicly display, and distribute your content as part of operating and promoting the service. This license ends when your content is deleted from the service, except for community record contributions described in section 2, content retained after account deletion as described in the Privacy Policy, and copies that persist briefly in backups.

You are responsible for your content. By posting it you confirm that you have the rights to post it and that it does not violate anyone else’s rights or the law.

4. Public visibility

Content on the Oslo Registry are public by default: vehicle records, posts, comments, photos, sale records, specifications, and registries are visible to everyone, including visitors without accounts and search engines. Service records offer visibility settings (draft, public, private); private service records are shown to other users only in redacted form. Do not post anything you are not comfortable making public.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Post content that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, hateful, obscene, or that infringes intellectual-property or privacy rights.
  • Post personal information about other people — including a vehicle owner’s name, address, or contact details — without their consent. Vehicle records describe vehicles, not their owners. Recording a license plate as it appears on a vehicle in public is fine; using the service to identify, track, or expose a vehicle’s owner is not.
  • Knowingly submit false or fabricated data: fake sale records, invented specifications, fictitious VINs, or deliberately incorrect vehicle details.
  • Use the service to send spam, advertise, or solicit without our permission.
  • Scrape, harvest, or bulk-download content or data from the service by automated means without our written permission.
  • Attempt to probe, disrupt, or gain unauthorized access to the service, other accounts, or our infrastructure, or circumvent rate limits, moderation actions, or suspension.
  • Create accounts in bulk or use the service on behalf of a minor under 16.

6. Moderation and enforcement

We (and moderators we appoint) may review, approve, edit, lock, or remove any content, and may suspend or terminate accounts, at our discretion — including for violations of these terms, to comply with law, or to protect users and the integrity of the registry. New community contributions may be held for review before or after publication. Users can report content; filing knowingly false reports is itself a violation of these terms. Suspension may be temporary or permanent; a suspended account can still log in and read but cannot post or edit.

7. Deleting your account; termination

You may delete your account at any time from Account → Profile in the app. Account deletion is permanent: the account cannot be reactivated, and your username is retired — it is no longer displayed and cannot be registered again by anyone. What happens to your data and content is described in the Privacy Policy; content retained after deletion remains subject to the license in section 3. We may suspend or terminate your account for violation of these terms, extended inactivity of an unverified account, or if we discontinue the service. Sections of these terms that by their nature should survive termination (licenses to community contributions, disclaimers, limitations of liability) survive.

8. Intellectual property

The Oslo name, logo, site design, and software are ours or our licensors’ and are protected by law. These terms do not grant you any right to use them except as needed to use the service normally. Vehicle data sourced from public databases (such as the U.S. NHTSA vehicle database) remains subject to its source’s terms.

9. Copyright complaints

If you believe content on the Oslo Registry infringes your copyright, send a notice to [email protected] including: identification of the copyrighted work, the URL of the infringing material, your contact information, a statement of good-faith belief that the use is unauthorized, a statement under penalty of perjury that your notice is accurate and you are authorized to act, and your physical or electronic signature. We will remove or disable access to material in response to valid notices and may terminate the accounts of repeat infringers. If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake, you may send a counter-notice to the same address.

10. Community data is not professional advice

Sale records, specifications, service records, and other data on the Oslo Registry are contributed by the community and are provided for general interest only. We do not verify them and make no promise that they are accurate, complete, or current. They are not an appraisal, valuation, purchase advice, or mechanical advice. Do not rely on them for buying, selling, insuring, or servicing a vehicle without independent verification.

11. Disclaimers

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that content — including community-contributed data — is accurate or reliable. Third-party services the app uses (such as mapping, email delivery, vehicle databases, and exchange rates) are outside our control.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the service. To the same extent, our total liability for all claims relating to the service is limited to the greater of US$100 or the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those places, these limits apply to the fullest extent the law allows, and nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.

13. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your content, your use of the service, or your violation of these terms or of someone else’s rights.

14. Changes to the service and these terms

We may change or discontinue features of the service at any time. If we make material changes to these terms, we will update the effective date above and email registered users at the address on their account; continued use after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree to updated terms, stop using the service and delete your account.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the courts located in Muskingum County, Ohio, and both parties consent to their jurisdiction. If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remain in effect. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the service.
