About

Oslo is an enthusiast-first, community-driven platform for keeping track of and sharing the cars worth remembering. Whether you’re keeping track of maintenance, shopping for your dream car and watching value history, want to pull up the 0-60 time for a specific model, or find a car by a specific spec, Oslo keeps it all at your fingertips.

From our founder: Why Oslo?

In 2019 I was driving home from an anniversary date in Columbus, Ohio when a blue Porsche 911 merged onto the highway next to us, dropped a gear, and took off through the next underpass. The color was unique enough that I spent the rest of that night digging around to find info on the car or color, and after a few hours I found a single post on Twitter of the car at a detailing shop having PPF applied. This post also named the color: Oslo Blue.

This sparked an obsession: I set up alerts for the term “Oslo Blue” on every possible platform, scraped social media posts for license plates, and pulled VINs from photos posted with #osloblue. Bit by bit I pieced together a list of practically every public Oslo Blue PCar in the US – but that specific GT3 was still missing.

The list kept growing over time, but the car still hadn’t shown up. Nearly five years later I stumbled across a YouTube video: an Oslo Blue GT3 being delivered to its owner and driven for the first time. A single frame showed just enough of the door sill to read the VIN sticker (more importantly, a VIN I didn’t have on my list). With the VIN in hand a little more research revealed this was the car – and not only that, there were multiple posts and pages about the car that had proven impossible to find without having the VIN first!

Existing car spotting and enthusiast platforms simply lacked the basic search functionality, basic SEO, and browsability to find the car. My excitement for ending a five year search was deflated when the information had been there the entire time, in theory easily reachable but in practice impossible to find. The idea for Oslo was to fix that: an open, community-driven platform for enthusiasts with real functionality improvements. With a background developing ERP software for the manufacturing industry, I set to work (and yes, it’s named after a paint color).
